Talabat Mart Egypt plans to expand in Zagazig, Port Said, Ismailia and Damanhour

Talabat company believes that changing the user’s pattern of using Talabat Mart is one of the most important challenges it faces, which it described as real competition in the market. Transferring the user from using the phone in requests to using technology opens many growth opportunities for the company that has the necessary expertise in Egypt since the launch of services “I request” .

In an interview with Mohamed Sakina, General Manager of Talabat Mart Egypt, to present the company’s strategy during the new year and about a year after the launch of grocery delivery services in Egypt. The following is the text of the interview.

What are the main axes of Talabat Mart’s strategy to develop the service in the Egyptian market?

Sakina: Talabat Mart is the beginning of the idea of express commerce in Egypt supported by our strategically located dark stores across the country to help us deliver on our promise to deliver products home in just 20 minutes, this is a completely new paradigm that was not present in Egypt before, and we are proud Being one of the first pioneers in the field of rapid e-commerce in general and in the field of e-grocery products in particular, we will work to bring about more change in the Egyptian market.

He said, “Our strategy is to provide Egyptian consumers with a super-fast and reliable online shopping experience for purchasing groceries where our entire focus is on the customer. We are at the forefront of the technology industry in Egypt.

Sakina added: We are also making a great effort in remote areas and cities that are not adequately served, or more accurately, we are proud of what we have reached within about a year after the launch, as we were able to cover all parts of Cairo and Giza, and expand in Alexandria, Mansoura and Tanta.

You led a T-Mart company in the UAE before moving to Egypt. What do you think are the most important differences between the two markets?

Sakina: Working in the UAE market was very interesting, because the UAE market is one of the most developed markets in e-shopping. The type of challenges we face were different and most of them revolve around providing a level of service in line with the needs and expectations of the market and the level of competitors.

He said: The Egyptian market is very fast-growing compared to other markets, and the Egyptian market has been accustomed to using the telephone to order for many years, which makes changing the behavior pattern of using electronic commerce methods difficult, and this requires a lot of effort to educate customers and to educate suppliers about the nature and benefits of online shopping, and that The supply chain in the Egyptian market needs a lot of planning due to the geographical size of Egypt.

About a year after the start of providing the service in Egypt.. What is your evaluation of the service.. and what is the growth rate of the service work in the Egyptian market?

Sakina: A t-mart service offering an unparalleled experience in the Egyptian market, we’ve been delivering groceries and household necessities for the past four months in 20 minutes down from 30 minutes when the service started early in the year, 24/7, without… No hassles, in one of the world’s busiest countries.

Since the launch of Talabat Mart in March 2020, the company has witnessed a significant increase in grocery shopping through Talabat – which is indicative of the market need in Egypt for a super-fast and reliable online grocery shopping platform.

We started the idea of Express Trade in Egypt powered by our strategically located darkroom stores across the country to help us deliver on our promise of home delivery in just 20 minutes, this is a completely new paradigm that was not present in Egypt before.
