Egyptian agricultural exports to Asian countries exceed $60 million

Egyptian agricultural exports to Asia recorded 68.4 thousand tons, worth $60.4 million, during the first quarter of the current export season 2022/2021, according to a report issued by the Foreign Trade Data Repository of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Mal.

Egyptian agricultural exports recorded 777.6 thousand tons, with a value of 617 million and 664 thousand dollars, during the first quarter of the current export season 2022/2021.

The current export season for agricultural crops started from September 2021 and will continue until the end of August 2022.

Abdel Hamid Demerdash, head of the Agricultural Export Council, stressed that the council’s success in opening new markets during the last period, in cooperation with the plant quarantine, helped increase the sector’s exports and their penetration abroad.

Egyptian non-oil exports rose to 32.340 billion dollars after checking the data during the past year 2021, compared to 25 billion and 427 million dollars in 2020.

Exporters attributed the historical rise in merchandise exports to the government’s determination to bring exports to $100 billion in the coming period, despite the Corona pandemic – which had a significant impact on foreign trade in all countries of the world – by supporting exporters by disbursing overdue dues to the Export Support Fund, along with Achieving maximum benefit from commercial offices abroad, as well as free and preferential trade agreements signed with a large number of countries and global economic blocs.

According to the latest data of the Ministry of Finance, the government has supported exporters with about 31 billion pounds that have been spent on more than 3,000 exporting companies, since the start of the “refund of overdue dues to exporters” initiatives in October 2019 until now.

The immediate payment initiative includes paying the total dues of the exporting companies to the Export Development Fund that are completed until June 30, 2020 immediately through the participating banks, namely “Al-Ahly”, “Misr”, “Cairo” and “Egyptian Export Development Bank” with a discount of 15% as an accelerated payment. Pay.
