Raiders v Eels: Croker out, Fogarty in; Blake returns

The Raiders looked like men on a mission in Dubbo as they made sure club legend Josh Papali’i celebrated his 250th game in style with a dominant win over Souths.

The 32-12 win was Canberra’s third at trot, lifting them to ninth on the ladder, out of eight by points alone.

Parramatta had to dig deep to beat Manly in a tight fight at the CommBank Stadium, coming back down from 20-10 to record their seventh win of the season.

The Raiders are traditionally hard to beat at home on a Sunday afternoon and they hope for a huge crowd to make the lives of Brad Arthur’s men uncomfortable.

the rundown

Team news

robbers: Seb Kris takes the start in the middle ahead of the injured Jarrod Croker as James Schiller comes into the intersection. Halfback Jamal Fogarty plays his first game of the season after recovering from a knee injury. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad’s fullback is taken by Xavier Savage.

eel: No late changes for the visitors. Waqa Blake makes his comeback from a knee injury on the wing that left Hayze Perham out. Cult hero Maika Sivo made a successful return via NSW Cup last weekend and was with the reserves on Tuesday, but was dropped from the selection on Saturday. He will try to come back on round 14 after parting ways with the Eels on round 13.

Key Agreement

Jack Wighton to Dylan Brown: The Raiders No.6 returned in style from a two-game suspension against the Bunnies, gave a try and kept the defense sharp all day. With Origin approaching and spots in the centers and at number 14 up for grabs, Wighton will be out to impress Blues coach Brad Fittler with another dominant display. Brown has shifted into top gear in the past three weeks after returning to his favorite five-eighth role, with a try, nine tackle breaks and a line break.

Statistical Attack

Maika Sivo has scored 54 tries in 67 appearances for the Eels, 22 of them in the 2019 season. Most tries ever scored in a season for Parramatta are 24 by his fellow Fijian Semi Radradra in 2015, followed by Steve Ella with 23 in 1982.
