Set a password for the computer via the control panel
Opening the control panel on the computer, and this panel can be opened on devices running Windows 10 through the Start menu, or by pressing the (Win + X) keys on a computer running Windows 8.
Click Click on the User Accounts option in Windows 10, or click on the User Accounts and Family Safety option in Windows 8.
Click on the User Accounts option.
Choose the option to make changes to my account in PC settings (Make changes to my account in PC settings).
Click on Sign-in options. Go to the Password section, then click on the Add option.
Enter the new password, then re-enter it again. Enter any text that may help the user remember the password in case he forgets it, in the password hint field.
Click on the Next button. Click on the Finish button.
Set a password for the computer via the keyboard
Here are the steps for creating a new password to protect Windows computers by using the keyboard on the device:
Pressing the (Ctrl+Alt+Del) keys on the device keyboard.
Click on the Change a password option.
Do not enter anything in the Old password field.
Enter the new password to be set to protect the computer. Re-enter the password again to confirm it.
Click on the Submit option. Click on the OK option.

Here are the steps to change the password for a computer running Windows 7:
Open the Control Panel on the computer.
Click on the “Add or remove user accounts” option.
Click on the account you want to change the password for.
Click on the Change the password option.
