Home and away the real-life couple Sophie Dillman and Paddy O’Connor are stronger than ever, and they’ve got a fur baby to prove it.

They showed off their cavoodle Winnie during a recent appearance on the morning show in Australia, where hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies met the adorable dog.

Aside from a gastrointestinal bout that forced Winnie to spend seven days in the animal hospital, Sophie and Paddy admitted that pet ownership has been largely smooth for them so far.

The hosts even referenced an Instagram post from Paddy featuring Winnie showing the dog in “his favorite position” to watch. friends – sat on top of Paddy’s chest.

According to Sophie, this was Winnie’s way of asserting dominance, as the position sends out the “they’re the boss” message.

The couple also cited a previous comment of theirs that “work is work and home is home”, admitting that it is “sometimes” difficult to keep them apart.

“The hardest thing is when you’re arguing at home and then you have to go straight into a love scene,” said Sophie. “But afterwards you laugh about it.”

“We’re pretty good. We’ve practiced a lot now, so it’s fine.”

Paddy also agreed that while working together as a couple has its moments, “we make it work”.

He added: “I mean when you walk in the front door and you have this man [the dog]it’s pretty hard to think of anything else.”

Paddy made her debut on the soap in 2018 as Dean Thompson, while Sophie had joined as Ziggy Astoni a year earlier – she was recently nominated for a Silver Logie award in the Most Popular Actress category for the role.

“I’m so proud. She’s an extremely hard worker and an incredible actress, so she really deserves this,” said Paddy.

“I’ll pay you later,” Sophie joked.

Home and away airs weekdays at 1:15pm on channel 5 and 6:00pm on 5STAR. The first showings will air at 6:30pm on 5STAR and the show will also air on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Monday to Thursday at 7pm on Channel 7 and is streamed on 7plus.
