20 million pounds from “Talaat Mostafa” and “Ezz” to the Egyptian national team if the African nations were crowned

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said that his ministry had received letters from the Talaat Moustafa and Hadid Ezz groups, to offer rewards of 20 million pounds to the Egyptian national team if it crowned the African Nations Cup, at 10 million pounds for each group.

Sobhi added, in televised statements, today, Friday, that the Talaat Mostafa Group promised to pay a reward of 10 million pounds to the national team players if the title was crowned.

He continued, “We agreed with the Talaat Mostafa Group to immediately disburse 1.5 million pounds to the players of the Egyptian national team after they qualified for the final of the tournament, with the remaining amount (8.5 million pounds) to be disbursed next Sunday when the African title is crowned.”

According to the minister, the Ezz Steel Group promised to pay 10 million pounds to the players upon winning the title.

Yesterday, Thursday, Egypt qualified for the final of the African Nations Football Championship, after defeating Cameroon (the tournament organizer) on penalties.

The Egyptian team will face Senegal, next Sunday, in the final of the tournament, with dreams of winning the eighth title.

Egypt had won the African Nations Cup in 2006, 2008 and 2010, respectively, before being away from the podiums since then.

How much will Egypt get from the African Union if the title is crowned?

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) allocated $5 million to the winning team of the African Nations Cup, compared to $2.75 million for the runner-up.

The Confederation of African Football allocates prizes of $ 17 million for the participants in the African Nations Championship, to be obtained by the eight teams qualified for the quarter-finals.

According to CAF, the teams qualified for the quarter-finals will receive $1.17 million, compared to $2.2 million for the semi-finalists.
